New USR Resource Added To Website - UK H&S Legislation Finder
More and more, Union Safety Reps need to use H&S laws to back them up when dealing with management, and to ensure the bnusiness is applying and abiding by the appropriate and specific laws.Finding appropriate legislation for whatever Health & Safety issue a Union Safety Rep is dealing with, is not always that easy to find.
To aid USRs in this task, Unionsafety has now produced a webpage making the finding of the appropriate legislation far easier:
- Spreadsheet: There is a Short name column on every tab, placed after the Jurisdiction column.
- Web page: The table has a Short name column, and the search box matches short names as well as titles. Typing "COSHH", "DSE", "PUWER" or "RIDDOR" finds the right entries.
- Coverage: 98 of the 293 items have a short name. These are the main regulations and Acts that people routinely refer to by an abbreviation, such as COSHH, LOLER, CDM, COMAH, PFEER and HSWA. The Northern Ireland versions get the same short name as their GB equivalents.
- Items left blank: Amending and administrative instruments, and regulations without a standard abbreviation, are left blank, rather than invent abbreviations.
- Accuracy: The abbreviations are from general knowledge of common usage, so a few are informal rather than official. For example, "Noise Regs" and "Machinery Regs" are just descriptive labels. Tell unionsafety about any you'd like changed or added.
